Billie Holiday by Nathalief87 Billie Holiday by Nathalief87
I recently got elected as Faculty Student Artist in Residence at my university (K.U.Leuven) and became the artistic face of my faculty (Medicine). Yaay! :woohoo: This way I got the opportunity to showcase and expand my artistic talents throughout the spring semester. :) So the student group of medicine asked me to design a poster for an upcoming concert were a couple of bands would be playing jazz and softrock. So I did some research and ended up with this photograph of Billie Holiday, a famous jazz singer.

Yes, I only used graphite! There is a technique to get that dark black. First you use a hard pencil (like H) to smooth out the paper and get rid of all the white spots that are left behind when you draw on paper with a grain. Then go over this layer in a different direction with a soft pencil (like 8B). I picked it up from this site: [link]
